Choosing a restaurant is always a challenging decision for anyone; am I in the mood for this? Is that restaurant expensive? Have I ever had a bad experience there? I personally like to make it even more thought-perplexing by be a pescatarian, meaning the only meat I have eaten for four years has been fish; when my father asked on a Tuesday “where should we go eat?” It became a challenge for us to agree upon a place. It was finally decided; Outback Steakhouse.
We pulled into the Westlake Outback around 4:30. We walked in to be immediately greeted by a friendly host and seated directly after. Looking around the restaurant I noticed it about half of the capacity and I thought to myself it was a pretty good turnout for the restaurant for a Tuesday and just opening at four. I also observed that the store had a very clean appearance to it; the store had recently been remodeled with new tables, chairs, and light fixtures for a much more modern look. Wait staff had on all black attire that was clean, and primped. The artwork included pictures and maps of Australia, beaches, and descriptions of the food served.
Arriving at the table we were seated comfortably while waiting for the server. I opened a menu, overwhelmed by the amount of variety and how many options I had as a pescaterian in a steakhouse. The server readily came to the table and greets us pleasantly while telling us the special that was offered for the day. To begin I ordered a “Wallaby Darn” which was a wonderful, frozen and blended peach adult beverage and Aussie cheese fries (minus bacon) as an appetizer to share. The Aussie cheeses fries were layered with a cheese mixture and baked to perfection, served with a made-in-house spicy ranch dressing.
The appetizer was now devoured and our salads had arrived, the greens were fresh and crisp and the mixture of toppings was comparable all dressed with the same ranch dressing with a kick. Our meals arrived as we finished our salads, which set an excellent meal pace. I looked down at my plate to see a perfectly grilled salmon, glazed in at “firecracker” sauce and topped with a mango salsa and to the side a colorful mixture of broccoli, yellow squash, snow peas, and carrots. I could hardly wait to begin eating. My father had ordered a Ribeye steak served with a loaded baked potato. His steak was cooked how he had ordered and the potato was very fresh and hot. My first bite was of the beautiful 7 ounce strip of salmon in which laid perfectly front of me, still warm off of the grill. I immediately tasted the sweet yet spicy glaze covering the salmon and the coolness of the mango salsa, the mixture was phenomenal. After savoring the first bite I then moved towards the vegetables on my plate, cooked in the right amount of butter and seasoning, I couldn’t get enough. Finishing our meals we were offered a selection of very appealing deserts which we were unable to enjoy from over indulging on dinner. We were then handed a very reasonable bill for the quality of the food and service we had received.
Overall, we were highly satisfied with our dinner at Outback as always. For many years I have been a guest and since 2012 I have happily been serving for outback. Therefore, I can confirm that only the best is served and prepared. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning as a guest.
